Standards-Based Management

Improvements in maternal and neonatal outcomes are not possible without improvements in the quality of care. To strengthen the quality of provider performance and facility-based health services, build community demand for these services, and ensure support from local governments and communities, ACCESS uses a performance and quality improvement model called standards-based management.

This model ensures that providers and the facilities in which they work utilize evidence-based standards to evaluate services, identify areas for improvement, and utilize a formal process to strengthen the care they provide. Standards-based management also ensures that providers and facilities meet the needs of the communities they serve by involving them in the management process.
