Baltimore, Md. – Koki Agarwal, MD, DrPH was named Director of the ACCESS Program at Jhpiego, an affiliate of the Johns Hopkins University. Agarwal will lead ACCESS, a $75 million program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to save the lives of mothers and newborns in developing countries. The ACCESS partnership includes Save the Children, Constella Futures, the Academy for Educational Development, the American College of Nurse-Midwives and IMA World Health.

"Dr. Agarwal brings strong experience, knowledge and leadership to the ACCESS Program at Jhpiego," said Leslie Mancuso, CEO and President of Jhpiego. "She is an internationally recognized expert in reproductive health and family planning and will be instrumental in leading a strong team to ensure improved outcomes for mothers and their newborns."

"Running a successful program that provides cutting-edge, innovative services in maternal and newborn care globally is essential to reducing mortality rates. I look forward to leading the ACCESS program and helping women and their families around the world," said Agarwal.

Agarwal joins Jhpiego from The Futures Group International where she has worked for the past 13 years. One of her most recent roles was Director of the Center for International Health, one of the Centers of Excellence established by Futures in 2002. She also served concurrently as Deputy Director of the USAID funded POLICY Project. In this capacity, she was responsible for guiding all reproductive health and maternal health activities of the POLICY Project in over 35 countries while serving as the chair of the Project's maternal health activities. Agarwal received her MPH and DrPH (Department of Population Dynamics) from the School of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University, her DPH from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and her MB, BS, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Delhi, India.
